Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team

What We Do

  • Finance transports from high kill shelters in central and southern California to out-of-state rescue groups and humane societies that are able to re-home the animals
  • Work with out-of-state rescue groups to identify areas where demand for rescue dogs exceeds the number of animals in shelters
  • Provide tools to rescue groups coordinating transports out of local CA shelters
  • Take a business oriented approach to rescue, working to maximize the number of animals saved from CA shelters
  • Ensure a reasonable mix of medium/large breed dogs and pit bulls are included on all transports (it cant just be about the fluffies!)

What’s a Transport?

The basic goal of a transport is to transfer animals from high-kill shelters in central and southern California to no-kill rescue groups and humane societies in other states where demand for rescue animals exceeds the number of animals in shelters.
There are numerous activities involved in a “transport” including:
  • Coordination between CA shelters and out-of-state rescue groups
  • Vet care for all animals prior to departure
  • Arranging for physical transportation of animals that starts at CA shelters and is destined for outside rescue groups
    • Van
    • Bus
    • Plane
  • Driving or flying the animals to the destination(s)
  • Following up with rescue groups to ensure all animals are working through the adoption process

(Chef Chloe Coscarelli helps by carrying her new dog off the flight!)

Donate

Please help us raise enough money to reach our goal of funding 8 transports a month.  That would allow us to save over 400 dogs per month, many of them sweet pit bulls who face certain death in Central and Southern California shelters.
